UK wine producers affected by climate change
Wine producers in Southern England could be affected by rising temperatures, according to a UK professor.
Temperatures in the region could provide ideal growing conditions for the likes of raisins, currants and sultanas, according to professor Richard Selley, and grape growing could eventually be confined to the far north of England, Scotland and Wales, if temperatures continue to rise.
The UK is unable to compete with France and Italy, which produce around 8 billion bottles of wine each, every year, according to Food & Drink Europe.
