The report by Morel Research studied 641 areas in the UK and found almost half of the 50 areas tipped to become innovation hotspots were in rural locations, as reported by Freelance UK.

Rural locations are thought to offer more inspiration, stimulate high productivity and provide less distraction, and business observers argue that this makes it easier to achieve a work-life balance.
