Online petition calls for separate shop and pub tax on alcohol
A petition which has been launched by a pub licensee is calling for different levels of alcohol tax in on-trade and off-trade businesses.
The petition calls for the Government to increase the duty on alcoholic drinks in shops, supermarkets and off-licences and to reduce the tax on alcohol bought in pubs and clubs and other on-trade venues, in a bid to make it harder for under-age drinkers to buy alcohol.
