Leitch Review failing to make impact
The Leitch Review, the Government-commissioned report into skills needs in the UK, is failing to make an impact, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
In the CIPD's annual learning and skills survey, over half of organisations say their learning and development work has not been affected by the skills agenda created by the Government after the Leitch Review. Just 13% of those surveyed have signed the Employer Skills Pledge or the Train to Gain initiative.
Although concerns about a lack of literacy and numeracy skills still remain, 66% of employers think that new employees lack soft skills such as communication and interpersonal skills. Over half of those surveyed (57%) think that employers have a role to play in raising workforce standards.
