Farmers and shepherds warned about dangers of quad bikes
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is warning farmers and shepherds to use safety helmets when they use quad bikes during the busy lambing season.
A spokesman for the HSE said that quad bikes are 'an essential part of farm life' and advised against getting on a quad bike without a safety helmet.
The spokesman stressed that it is illegal not to wear a safety helmet when using a quad bike for work purposes. Employers are also reminded by the HSE of their duty to provide employees with safety helmets for quad bike use.
