Dairy industry slams nutrient profiling system
The UK dairy industry has criticised the country's nutrient profiling system which could see its products labelled as junk food.
The system, coupled with a parliamentary debate on restricting junk food advertising, could see some dairy products labelled as junk food and banned from being advertised before 9 pm.
Products including milk, yoghurts and cheese are included in the Food Standard Agency's Nutrient Profiling Model (NPM), which the advertisement restrictions are based on.
Industry body Dairy UK wants the NPM to reassess dairy products so that their products can be re-defined as non-junk food.
