Retail sales to January show steady growth
Retail sales in the three-month period from November to January rose by 0.6% compared with the previous three months, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has revealed.
Sales volumes for non-food stores rose by 0.4% between December and January and sales for food stores increased by 0.7% during the same period, according to ONS figures.
Analysts have said that the sales growth shows that retailers are beginning to recover from the weak sales period that many shops experienced over Christmas.
