Prepare for energy performance certificates, businesses told
Businesses and commercial property landlords are being reminded that the new Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are to be introduced from 6 April.
The certificates are needed when a building is built, sold or leased. The largest buildings require one from April and other buildings need to have an EPC by October. EPCs are useful to businesses when they have to determine a building's energy efficiency.
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) is advising property occupiers that they will need to be aware of the certificates when acquiring or disposing of property. It has launched a guide to help businesses understand more about EPCs.
