Data breaches costing UK businesses more than just money

Data breaches are costing UK businesses anywhere between £84,000 and £3.8 million per breach, according to a new report commissioned by anti-virus giant Symantec.

The report revealed that the cost to businesses for each record compromised is around £47.

Over a third of costs (36%) incurred by businesses which leaked data came from lost revenue as consumer trust decreased, according to Symantec and report authors PGP Corporation and the Ponemon Institute.
