Government proposes copyright reform
The Government has proposed allowing the private copying of films and music.
It is also considering relaxing copyright restrictions on schools and libraries to allow them to make the most of digital technologies and facilitate distance learning.
The UK Intellectual Property Office (UK-IPO) will carry out a consultation process. The proposals would allow the legal copying of CDs to devices such as MP3 players for personal use. The consultation closes on 8 April and can be viewed on the UK-IPO website.
