The bank says that although just 18% of the 1,800 firms surveyed are expecting improved business conditions this year, the figure does not indicate a recession. The report revealed that there has been just a 2% increase in firms reporting cash flow problems, up to 21% from 19%.

More firms are also hoping to raise their prices this year, with 34% optimistic about achieving this, as opposed to 23% since the last survey.
