Retailers warned about seasonal surge in shoplifting

Britain's retailers have been warned to expect a surge in shoplifting this festive season.

That's according to retail security solutions firm Checkpoint Retail, which says that more thefts will occur in the four weeks leading up to Christmas. Shoplifters are expected to target stock valued at £430 million.

More than £26 million worth of goods is predicted to be stolen on Saturday 22 December. Checkpoint Retail predicts that popular stolen goods will include perfume, alcohol and women's clothing, as reported by the BBC.
