Personal data consultation launched

A consultation into how personal information is used and shared has been launched.

The review is part of the independent review announced by the Government in October and will include an examination of whether the Data Protection Act 1998 offers sufficient safeguards to protect individuals and what impact technological advances have had on the way personal information is protected.

It follows the loss of millions of people's personal details when disks went missing from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Details on the review can be downloaded from the Ministry of Justice website.
