Hangovers cost business £790 million

Hangovers will cost British businesses £790 million in lost productivity this Christmas, according to new research.

The report, by hotel chain Travelodge, found that workers spend an average of two and a half hours staring into space the day after their annual work Christmas party.

Almost a third (30%) admitted they had called in sick when they had a hangover, but they should expect no sympathy - 67% said they are annoyed when co-workers are off after a big night out.
