Government says red tape cuts save £800m

The Government says cuts to red tape are saving businesses more than £800 million a year.

The Delivering Simplification Plans report includes more than 280 initiatives put in place to reduce bureaucracy, including removing the need for businesses to hold an Annual General Meeting and halving the number of health and safety forms employers have to complete.

The Government has set itself a target of saving businesses and the third sector more than £3.5 billion in administrative costs by 2010.
