Enterprise can make you a millionaire
Starting your own business is more likely to earn you a million than entering the lottery or X-Factor, according to a new report.
Barclays Local Business says the odds of making a milion by becoming an entrepreneur are much smaller than people think.
It calculates that around one in 200 businesses make a million within two years of starting up, while the odds of becoming a pop star, an international footballer or winning a reality TV show are much longer.
A Barclays Local Business spokesman said:
"This research confirms that although running your business might not seem quite so glamorous as showbusiness and sport, hard work and determination in traditional business is much more likely to be rewarded by real tangible success. In comparison, hitting the jackpot in so-called glamour industries clearly has a lot more to do with luck.
"Whilst many young people dream of pursuing a career in music, football or films, it seems that starting a business is a far better bet to achive an 'A-lister' lifestyle."
