Cash machine withdrawals increase
Shoppers have been hitting the cash machines hard this December, withdrawing a total of £3.2 billion.
Figures from Link, which runs the UK's chain of cash points, says the figure is £140 million higher than the same period last year and 7% up on November's average.
Analysts say the figures point towards a good Christmas for retailers, especially after last week's interest rate cut by the Bank of England, Ananova reported.
