Support package for good ideas

A worldwide search has started to find 31 leaders of knowledge-based start up businesses to take part in the second round of an enterprise project based in Scotland.

The Edinburgh Pre-Incubator Scheme (EPIS) is offering the successful candidates an interest-free £10,000 loan and a support package including business and academic mentoring and accommodation worth £70,000.

In the first round of the scheme, 80% of participants went on to run viable enterprises, The Scotsman reported.

The project, funded by Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian and the University of Edinburgh, has already selected five early-stage firms for the second round.

Applicants must have a good idea, a degree and be willing to work in Edinburgh.
