Scots shop prices increase

Shop prices in Scotland have risen for the fourth consecutive month, according to figures from the British Retail Consortium (BRC).

The rate of shop price inflation for Scotland - and the UK as a whole - was 1.1% in October, up from 0.7% in September. The rate is the highest since the survey began in December 2005.

The BRC said the rise in food prices outweighed the continued deflation in non-food items.
