Delay in Companies Act implementation

The Companies Act 2006 will not be fully implemented until October 2009, because the Companies House IT system must be improved to handle the new legislation.

The final implementation of the Act - the biggest piece of legislation ever passed by Parliament - has been delayed by a year.

Competitiveness Minister Stephen Timms said firms were being given an early warning of the changed timetable so they did not incur unnecessary costs, Freelance UK reported.
