Programme helps would-be entrepreneurs

A business training and development scheme has helped to set up almost 550 new firms in the North East in the last six years.

The New Entrepreneur Scholarship (NES) programme runs over four months and aims to help people start their own businesses. More than 200 people in the North East have taken the course this year, The Northern Echo reported.

The scheme, set up in 2001 and run by Entrust with funding from One NorthEast, offers business training, advice and support, and can help with funding up to £1,500.
