New guide on age-related sales
An updated guide for shops selling age restricted products such as tobacco has been produced by the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
The Age Restricted Sales - Due Diligence and Best Practice Guidance explains the responsibilities of the person behind the counter when it comes to sales of alcohol, tobacco, knives, fireworks, solvents, National Lottery tickets and scratch cards, DVDs, videos and computer games.
The update follows last month's increase in the age for buying tobacco and knives, from 16 to 18.
The guide costs £5.
