The fact files have been developed to help brief Government ministers visiting any one of the 38 cities, or nine regions in England.

They contain key local information on the composition of the local authority, population, employment levels, education, health, crime, transport infrastructure, regeneration and levels of European funding. They also contain maps and satellite images of the area concerned.

The fact files can be updated in real time, providing ministers and other users with up to date information.
