More festive shoppers buy online
Almost three-quarters of consumers (74%) will use the Internet or mail order to do some of their Christmas shopping this year, according to a survey by Deloitte.
The Annual Christmas Retail Survey by the business advisory group found 14% of shoppers planned to use the Internet for the bulk of their festive purchases, up from 7% last year. Two-thirds (66%) plan to research items online before buying, up from last year's 51%.
The report said digital goods and luxury items would be the big sellers this Christmas and that shoppers were shrugging off concerns about the global credit crunch.
