Inflation rises in September
Increases in petrol prices helped push up inflation during October.
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose to 2.1% from 1.8% in September, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced.
The increase in fuel duty which came into effect at the start of September contributed to the 2.7p per litre increase in prices. A year earlier, petrol prices fell by 5.2p per litre.
Increases in food prices, especially meat, were also factors in the rise.
