Help to avoid 'data leakage'
Businesses are being given advice on how they can protect themselves against data leakage - when important information can be lost by e-mail, either deliberately or accidentally.
Around 95% of data is lost accidentally rather than purposefully, according to computer security business Sophos.
A spokeswoman said:
"Although companies can't strip search employees in order to prevent confidential documents leaving the business premises each day, they can take steps to help fight electronic data leakage."Research has shown that approximately 95% of data loss is accidental so companies need to wise up to this inside threat."
It has put together a podcast containing advice on dealing with a data leakage and how it can be prevented.
