Health and safety bureaucracy concerns

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) says "small minded bureaucracy" is undermining the good work done to improve health and safety.

RoSPA said this type of approach provided ammunition for attacks on the concept of health and safety.

The organisation believes health and safety should be "as safe as necessary, not as safe as possible".

People using health and safety to ban things or cancel events by applying the guidance too literally was also a concern, RoSPA chief executive Tom Mullarkey said.
