Food law consultation opens
A consultation is looking to change the way local authorities in England inspect and ensure that food businesses are operating within the law.
It is proposed that the current inspection-focused enforcement policy is replaced with powers allowing local authorities to choose the most appropriate action to ensure compliance.
The proposed changes would be to the Code of Practice (CoP) for Food Law Enforcement.
The consultation opened on 21 September and closes on 10 December 2007.
