Firms warned about information overload

The Government wants to reduce the amount of information provided with products and services.

The 'Too Much Information Can Harm' report by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) and the National Consumer Council (NCC) found information is not being read because it is too long or complex.

The Government says providing information that is not read, and therefore puts consumers at risk, costs firms £1.5 billion annually.

It wants firms to rationalise and simplify the information given to consumers.
