Extra money for regional food firms
Food and drink businesses in Yorkshire are to benefit from an £8.8 million cash input over the next five years.
The money is coming from Regional Development Agency (RDA) Yorkshire Forward to continue to develop innovation and enterprise in the food sector on the key themes of product, packaging, process, people, provenance and passport to export.
A Yorkshire Forward spokesman said:
"Food and drink is the largest manufacturing sector in the region, employing more than 60,000 people within over 1,000 businesses - the largest concentration of food and drink businesses in the UK."
