Ethnic beauty market set to grow

The ethnic cosmetics and toiletries market could grow by 35% in the next five years - if manufacturers come up with the right new products and ensure they are properly marketed.

So says analysts Mintel, which says black and Asian women are not having their needs met by the UK beauty industry, Ananova reported.

Its Ethnic Cosmetics and Toiletries report found that these products only make up 2% of the UK's £3.7 billion beauty market. However, this sector has grown by 24% since 2002 and is now worth £65 million annually.
