Groups oppose Supplementary Business Rate
Business lobby groups have teamed up to oppose the Government's proposed Supplementary Business Rate, which was announced in the Chancellor's Pre-Budget Report.
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and the Institute of Directors (IoD) have united to express their opposition.
The scheme, which was introduced in a White Paper, would allow local authorities to raise extra funds from businesses in the area.
An FSB spokesman said:
"Without a vote for small businesses in all cases where a Supplementary Business Rate is planned this will simply be another tax on the wealth-creators of our local communities."
