Shops support safe drinking

Retailers in Scotland are supporting plans to tackle alcohol abuse.

The Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) has thrown its weight behind Alcohol Awareness Week, which runs from 22 to 29 October and aims to increase public knowledge about sensible drinking.

Members of the SRC will be increasing the work they do to promote healthy drinking during the week, through in-store literature and new labels showing what sensible drinking limits are.

A spokeswoman said:

"As an industry, we are committed to working in partnership to tackle the negative aspects of alcohol consumption."
