Scots firms warned over rate relief skimming

Businesses in Scotland are being warned to beware they are not being "cheated" out of their full business rate relief entitlement.

The Federation of Small Businesses Scotland (FSBS) was speaking out after local councils raised concerns about the number of rate relief forms being completed by third parties, The Scotsman reported.

These third party form fillers have been charging 25% and upwards of the value of the relief for their service, which the FSBS said was an "outrageous abuse of trust" for helping to fill out a simple form.
