More groceries bought online
The number of groceries sold online is predicted to double by 2012 to reach £5 billion annually.
The figures come from grocery market researchers IGD, which says that currently, around 2% of groceries are bought over the Internet.
However, retailers believe the figure is growing at a much faster rate. Tesco, the biggest online food seller, said Internet grocery sales are 3.5 times higher than they were five years ago, The Times reported.
