Publicans back smoking ban
Pub licensees are backing the smoking ban and say they would not overturn it if they had the chance, according to a new study.
The research, carried out by The Publican magazine and soft drink maker Britvic, found 73% of respondents would not like to see the ban overturned.
The study suggests that the mood of licensees is changing, with 78% opposing those who flout the law and 25% reporting seeing new regular customers since the ban came into force.
A Britvic spokesman said:
"While the ban may have presented challenges in the short term, it's clear licensees are recognising the long-term benefits."
