Postal union urged to accept modernisation

The Communications Workers Union (CWU) has been urged to 'face up to reality', as talks to end the latest postal strike broke down without agreement.

The message comes from the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), which said the union - protesting over the Royal Mail's pay offer and modernisation plans - must accept change.

A spokesman said:

"Royal Mail does not operate in a vacuum and faces the same global pressures as business.

"Change is inevitable if Royal Mail is to survive."

The latest CWU strike has entered its second day and the union has warned a further week of disruption will start next Monday if the dispute has not been resolved before then, the BBC reported.
