Flood recovery scheme reaches milestone
A fund set up to help flood-hit businesses has reached a major milestone.
More than £1 million in grants has been allocated to small businesses in Gloucestershire, following the summer flooding.
The South West Regional Development Agency (RDA) established the Small Business Flood Recovery Scheme to attract trade back to the area.
Already around 500 enquiries have been taken from small businesses, including riding schools and antique shops.
A South West RDA spokesman said:
"The flood recovery fund has been up and running for two months and there has been an excellent response. After the initial high demand, enquiries are now down to one or two a day and we believe that it is now nearing maximum take-up."
The campaign is now being extended to businesses in the travel and tourism trade, with £300,000 of additional funding being made available.
