Disposable income levels drop
Consumers now have less disposable income than at any point over the last decade.
That's the findings of a report which says that although wages have increased, taxes, rent and utility bills have also gone up.
The research, by uSwitch, found there had been an 85% increase in taxes and a 77% rise in social contributions. It said the average householder was now running to stand still.
The figures were compiled using data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Ananova reported.
