Corporate manslaughter to be offence from 2008
The new offence of corporate manslaughter will come into force on 6 April 2008, changing the basis on which businesses can be prosecuted for manslaughter.
The Government said the law would ensure there is proper accountability when serious management breaches lead to people's deaths.
Gross failures in the management of health and safety, causing death, will be liable for prosecution under the legislation.
