British cheese sales soar
Sales of British regional cheeses are rising.
Sales increased by 16% to £220 milion between 2004 and 2006, researchers Mintel said. Although sales of Continental cheeses are still higher at £340 million, they fell by 7% in the same period.
Cheddar cheese was the most popular type, accounting for 52% of cheese sales. The growing interest in local food helped to boost sales of UK cheeses, Ananova reported.
