Forum meets on construction deaths
Work and Pensions Secretary Peter Hain has organised a forum to draw up an action plan for reducing fatalities in the construction industry.
Representatives from employers, trade unions and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have been asked to put together an urgent plan to tackle the rising number of deaths and injuries in construction.
One in three construction refurbishment sites recently inspected by the HSE were found to put workers' lives at risk. HSE immediately closed 244 of the sites it inspected.
