Taxman investigates virtual profits
People making real money in the virtual world are being investigated by the taxman.
Real-life profits being made on the computer game Second Life are being investigated by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), The Independent reported.
The taxman is reportedly concerned about the high number of people trading virtual items for real money but not paying tax on their profits.
It is believed that several thousand Britons trade regularly through the site, which has 8.5 million users worldwide.
