Tourism help for flood-hit firms

A marketing campaign is aiming to help tourist ventures in Gloucestershire attract visitors back to the county following the recent flooding.

The South West of England Regional Development Agency (RDA) is investing £50,000 in the campaign and in support for tourism-based firms.

The marketing strategy will include national newspaper inserts, online promotions with VisitBritain and video footage promoting parts of the county.

Quality assured accommodation providers will also receive fully subsidised membership of South West Tourism for six months.

A South West Tourism spokeswoman said:

"Supporting the industry is key and we would encourage tourism businesses to take up the offer of what is essentially 'free' membership and the marketing that goes with it."
