Blueberries show healthy growth

Britons are buying almost £100 million of blueberries each year and more UK farmers are starting to grow the healthy fruit to meet demand.

A Tesco spokesman said that sales had quadrupled in just two years and it was encouraging more growers to supply the fruit on a commercial scale.

Around 25 farmers now do, compared to a "handful" just a few years ago, the Eastern Daily Press reported.

The growth has been fuelled by the revelation that blueberries are one of the most benefical foods you can eat.

However, the crop can be susceptible to bad weather.
