Scots farms want disease restrictions lifted
Scottish farmers say the ban on meat exports imposed because of foot-and-mouth disease in England should be lifted early north of the border.
A three-month ban has been imposed following the discovery of the disease at a farm in Surrey.
Scottish farmers say if the virus has been contained, it is unfair to punish people living hundreds of miles away.
Northern Ireland and Ireland are already asking the European Commission (EC) to lift export restrictions on their farmers, The Scotsman reported.
