Home Internet access reaches 61%
Nearly 15 million UK homes - or 61% - now have Internet access, an increase of more than one million or 7% on last year.
The figures, from the Office for National Statistics, showed that the South West and London had the highest levels of Internet access at 69%, while the lowest were Yorkshire and the Humber, the North East and Northern Ireland, where access levels stood at 52%.
The majority of Internet-connected homes use broadband - 84% - up from 69% in 2006.
