Concern over Christmas tree supplies

The summer's warm, wet weather could lead to a shortage of Christmas trees this year.

It has emerged that 70% of Corsican pines in the East of England have been infected by the fungal disease red band needle blight, although it has yet to hit spruce and fir species.

The British Christmas Tree Growers' Association told the Eastern Daily Press was concerned but not frightened about the disease, especially if it were to jump species from the Corsican pine.
