Discount firm in running for award
A niche food firm which specialises in selling products for £1 has reached the regional finals of a major business competition.
Brierleys Foods was set up last year and sources products from the UK, Poland, Romania and Turkey, where it also has a base.
The firm is now one of 10 to make it to the next stage of the HSBC Start-Up Stars Awards. The top prize in the competition is £25,000.
The business originally targeted discount food stores, but is now dealing with the supermarkets, chains and convenience stores, the Eastern Daily Press reported.
