'Smoke'-on-Trent beats ban
Enclosed public places in Stoke-on-Trent have escaped the smoking ban because of an administrative error by the local authority, which failed to obtain enforcement powers on time.
That means smokers in the town are able to light up in enclosed public places until 2 August.
It is understood that the oversight occurred because council bosses believed the powers were delegated to a department head, The Publican reported.
